Clarify. Balance. Renew.

Trifolium pratense is an isoflavone-rich cooling botanical traditionally used to clear the system, nurture a radiant complexion, support hormonal balance, and encourage healthy lymphatic flow and inner purity.

Why Red Clover?

  • Skin clarifier: Isoflavones (genistein and daidzein) and flavonoids support a clear, calm, and healthy complexion from the inside out – Red Clover’s most celebrated traditional use for skin nourishment and systemic purity.
  • Hormonal harmony: Phytoestrogens provide a gentle, foundational tonic traditionally used to support hormonal balance and long-term systemic vitality, especially during transitional life stages.
  • Lymphatic ally: Coumarins gently encourage fluid movement and lymphatic flow, helping the body move stagnant energy and promoting a sense of lightness, clarity, and inner freshness.
  • Systemic cleanser: Trace minerals and flavonoids provide broad antioxidant and nutritive support, helping the body maintain resilience and clear, healthy circulation for daily inner bloom.

Traditional Benefits

Trifolium pratense is a botanical classic of Western herbalism. Classified in traditional herbalism as "cooling, moistening, and mildly alterative," it is deeply respected for its specific affinity for the skin, the lymphatic system, and hormonal health. It acts as a "gentle-cleaner," helping to resolve sensations of stagnation, heat, or internal congestion with its sweet, nurturing energy.

Core Bioactive Markers:

  • Isoflavones (Genistein, Daidzein): The "heart" of the Red Clover. These phytoestrogens are the primary agents traditionally linked to the herb's reputation for supporting hormonal balance and long-term systemic vitality.
  • Coumarins: Provide a gentle, supportive action on the lymphatic system, which is traditionally valued for encouraging the body’s natural movement and cleansing processes.
  • Flavonoids: Provide a broad spectrum of antioxidant support, helping to protect tissues from environmental oxidative stress and supporting healthy, clear circulation.
  • Trace Minerals: Red Clover’s broad nutritional profile makes it a foundational, nutritive tonic, supporting the body’s ability to maintain resilience and internal "bloom."

Key Physiological Properties:

  • Skin Purifier: Traditionally used to maintain a clear, calm, and healthy complexion by supporting the body’s natural cleansing and flow.
  • Lymphatic Supporter: Gently encourages the body’s fluid movement, helping you feel balanced, clear, and refreshed.
  • Systemic Cleanser: Acts to support the body’s primary elimination channels, fostering a sense of systemic clarity and "inner-freshness."
  • Systemic Harmoniser: By cooling and nourishing, it helps to resolve "heat-stagnant" states, encouraging a state of bright, calm, and clear-headed equilibrium.

How To Use

  • How to Use: Because the medicinal goodness of Red Clover is often slow to extract, it is best prepared as a long-steeped infusion. Use 1–2 teaspoons in 1 cup of hot water, steeping for 15–20 minutes, covered. This patience allows the deep, mineral-rich compounds to fully enter your brew.
  • The Ritual: Best utilised as a "Cleansing Ritual." Drinking Red Clover is an act of flushing the old to make room for the new. It is a moment to breathe deeply, envisioning the movement and purification of your inner systems, and feeling a sense of renewed lightness.

Safety & Precautions

• Do not use if pregnant or lactating.
• Generally safe, though those with a history of hormone-sensitive conditions should consult their doctor due to its isoflavone content.
• May potentiate the effects of anticoagulant drugs.
• Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
• Safe for use in children.
FAQs

Why is it called a "blood purifier"?

In traditional terms, this doesn't mean it filters the blood like a machine! It means it supports the organs (like the liver and lymph) that do the work of keeping your internal environment clean and healthy.

Does it taste like grass?

Quite the opposite! Red Clover has a surprising, delicate sweetness to it. It is one of the most pleasant-tasting "cleansing" herbs available.

Can I mix this with other herbs?

It is a phenomenal base for any "Detox" or "Support" blend. It pairs beautifully with Nettle or Calendula for a powerhouse of internal purification.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HERBS

infusion

Infusion (The Gentle Extract)

Best For: Flowers, leaves, and aerial parts.
Method: Steeping in hot (not boiling) water.
Goal: Preserves delicate oils and nutrients.
Feel: Mild, aromatic, and nourishing.
Think of this as an elevated tea ritual. Because leaves and flowers are delicate, boiling them can damage their beneficial essential oils and volatile compounds.

The Method:
  • Pour hot (approx. 85°C–90°C) water over your herbs.
  • The Time: Cover and steep for 5–15 minutes. Covering is key—it prevents the plant's aromatic oils from escaping with the steam.
  • Best For: Chamomile, Lemon Balm, and delicate floral blends.

Cold infusions

Herbs best suited for cold infusions are those high in mucilage (like marshmallow root) or those with delicate, volatile oils (like peppermint and lemon balm). Steeping these in cold water overnight extracts their maximum benefits and flavours while preventing bitterness and preserving sensitive phytonutrients.

How to Prepare

Prep: Use a ratio of 1 tablespoon of dried herb (or 2 tablespoons fresh) per 1 cup of cold, filtered water.
Steep: Combine in a glass jar, cover tightly, and leave at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 6 to 12 hours (overnight is ideal).
Strain: Strain out the herbs thoroughly before drinking, warm water can be added to the drink if warm liquids is your preference. Do not heat in microwave.

decoction

Decoction (The Deep Extract)

Best For: Roots, bark, seeds, and woody stems.
Method: Simmering in water over heat.
Goal: Softens tough fibres to release compounds.
Feel: Concentrated, earthy, and potent.

How to Prepare (The "Simmer")

This is a more intensive process for tougher materials. Roots, barks, and woody seeds are "locked" behind dense cell walls; a simple soak isn't enough to get the goodness out.
The Method: Place your herbs in a pot with cold water. Slowly bring it to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and simmer.
The Time: Simmer for 15–20 minutes. Keep the lid on to maintain the potency.
Best For: Yellow Dock, White Willow Bark, Wild Yam, and woody roots or dense seeds.

Herbal Poultice

  • Place the recommended amount of dried herbs into a bowl.
  • Add just enough boiling water to moisten the herbs, creating a thick paste.
  • Allow the mixture to cool until it is comfortably warm (not hot enough to burn the skin).
  • Spread the herbs evenly onto a clean piece of muslin, gauze, or cotton cloth and fold the cloth over to enclose the herbs.
  • Apply the warm poultice directly to the affected area for 15–30 minutes, or as needed.
  • Remove the poultice and discard the used herbs. Prepare a fresh poultice for each application.

Helpful Tips
Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, or infected areas unless advised by a qualified healthcare practitioner. If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately.
