Uplift. Calm. Restore.

Jasminum officinale is nature’s most enchanting spirit-lifter — a benzyl acetate-rich cooling aromatic botanical traditionally used to dissolve stress and melancholy, restore joy and harmony, and guide the nervous system into peaceful, grounded calm.

Why Jasmine Flowers?

  • Spirit-lifter: Volatile oils (benzyl acetate, linalool, and indole) are the heart of the Jasmine flower — aromatic compounds that gently uplift the mood, dissipate feelings of heaviness, and restore a sense of optimism and emotional ease.
  • Nervine relaxant: Iridoid glycosides and volatile oils work directly on the nervous system, helping you transition from a wired, restless state to a place of peaceful, grounded calm — perfect for those who find it hard to switch off.
  • Aromatic harmony: Flavonoids provide foundational antioxidant support, while the exquisite scent works on the sensory system to promote well-being, emotional balance, and a deep sense of ease.
  • Evening ritual tonic: Bitter principles in trace amounts support comfortable digestion and gut-brain axis clearing — quieting the chatter of a busy day and preparing the body for deep, restorative rest.

Traditional Benefits

Jasminum officinale is a botanical treasure of traditional Eastern and Western herbalism. In traditional practice, it is classified as "cooling, aromatic, and uplifting." It is deeply respected for its specific affinity with the nervous system—acting as a mild sedative and mood-enhancer that helps to brighten the spirit while simultaneously calming the body.

Core Bioactive Markers:

  • Volatile Oils (Benzyl Acetate, Linalool, Indole): These are the "heart" of the Jasmine flower. These aromatic compounds are the primary agents responsible for the herb's signature fragrance and its ability to soothe the nervous system and enhance mood.
  • Flavonoids: Provide foundational antioxidant support and contribute to the plant's traditional use in maintaining systemic health and resilience.
  • Bitter Principles (in trace amounts): These contribute to the flower's subtle ability to support comfortable digestion and encourage a sense of "clearing" in the gut-brain axis.
  • Iridoid Glycosides: A specialised group of compounds traditionally linked to the herb's calming influence and its ability to support systemic comfort.

Key Physiological Properties:

  • Mood Harmoniser: Traditionally used to uplift the spirit and promote a sense of optimism and emotional ease.
  • Nervine Sedative: Acts to quiet nervous restlessness and muscle tension, making it a wonderful aid for those who find it hard to "switch off."
  • Digestive Comfort: Its aromatic nature helps to ease nervous stomach tension, fostering a sense of comfort after meals.
  • Sensory Balancer: By grounding the senses, it helps the body shift out of "fight-or-flight" mode and into a state of restorative, peaceful presence.

How To Use

  • How to Use: Because they are delicate, highly aromatic flowers, they are best prepared as a short-steeped infusion. Use 1 teaspoon in 1 cup of hot water and steep for 5 minutes, covered. Over-steeping can lead to a slightly bitter profile, so keep the brew time short to preserve the sweet, floral notes.
  • The Ritual: Best utilised as a "Serenity Ritual." Drinking Jasmine tea is an act of reclaiming your joy. It is a moment to close your eyes, inhale the sweet, intoxicating steam, and allow the fragrance to clear the "static" from your mind, leaving you feeling balanced and uplifted.

Safety & Precautions

• Do not use if pregnant
• Generally very safe and well-tolerated.
• Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
• Keep out of reach of children.
FAQs

Is this just for fragrance?

While its scent is world-famous, Jasmine is a potent herbal ally for the nervous system! Its aromatic compounds are the key to its mood-lifting and calming effects.

Will this make me sleepy?

It is more "harmonising" than "sedating". Unlike Valerian, which promotes sleep, Jasmine is designed to support a calm, alert, and happy state of mind.

Can I mix this with other herbs?

It is a stunning top-note for floral blends. It pairs beautifully with Green Tea or Chamomile for a "Zen Harmony" blend that feels like a spa day in a cup.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HERBS

infusion

Infusion (The Gentle Extract)

Best For: Flowers, leaves, and aerial parts.
Method: Steeping in hot (not boiling) water.
Goal: Preserves delicate oils and nutrients.
Feel: Mild, aromatic, and nourishing.
Think of this as an elevated tea ritual. Because leaves and flowers are delicate, boiling them can damage their beneficial essential oils and volatile compounds.

The Method:
  • Pour hot (approx. 85°C–90°C) water over your herbs.
  • The Time: Cover and steep for 5–15 minutes. Covering is key—it prevents the plant's aromatic oils from escaping with the steam.
  • Best For: Chamomile, Lemon Balm, and delicate floral blends.

Cold infusions

Herbs best suited for cold infusions are those high in mucilage (like marshmallow root) or those with delicate, volatile oils (like peppermint and lemon balm). Steeping these in cold water overnight extracts their maximum benefits and flavours while preventing bitterness and preserving sensitive phytonutrients.

How to Prepare

Prep: Use a ratio of 1 tablespoon of dried herb (or 2 tablespoons fresh) per 1 cup of cold, filtered water.
Steep: Combine in a glass jar, cover tightly, and leave at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 6 to 12 hours (overnight is ideal).
Strain: Strain out the herbs thoroughly before drinking, warm water can be added to the drink if warm liquids is your preference. Do not heat in microwave.

decoction

Decoction (The Deep Extract)

Best For: Roots, bark, seeds, and woody stems.
Method: Simmering in water over heat.
Goal: Softens tough fibres to release compounds.
Feel: Concentrated, earthy, and potent.

How to Prepare (The "Simmer")

This is a more intensive process for tougher materials. Roots, barks, and woody seeds are "locked" behind dense cell walls; a simple soak isn't enough to get the goodness out.
The Method: Place your herbs in a pot with cold water. Slowly bring it to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and simmer.
The Time: Simmer for 15–20 minutes. Keep the lid on to maintain the potency.
Best For: Yellow Dock, White Willow Bark, Wild Yam, and woody roots or dense seeds.

Herbal Poultice

  • Place the recommended amount of dried herbs into a bowl.
  • Add just enough boiling water to moisten the herbs, creating a thick paste.
  • Allow the mixture to cool until it is comfortably warm (not hot enough to burn the skin).
  • Spread the herbs evenly onto a clean piece of muslin, gauze, or cotton cloth and fold the cloth over to enclose the herbs.
  • Apply the warm poultice directly to the affected area for 15–30 minutes, or as needed.
  • Remove the poultice and discard the used herbs. Prepare a fresh poultice for each application.

Helpful Tips
Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, or infected areas unless advised by a qualified healthcare practitioner. If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately.
